About the destination
Make time for the island walk
Badija is a small, forested island in the Korčula archipelago, just off Korčula town. In summer, taxi boats connect the town with the island; check with local operators for current departures and return arrangements. A gravel path circles Badija, making a walk among pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation the simplest way to explore. The island’s beaches mix pebbles and rocks, and the Korčula Tourist Board also lists sports facilities and a hospitality venue. Its Badija beach page gives a practical overview of the shoreline and island facilities.
Respect the monastery’s visit arrangements
The Franciscan monastery and church are the island’s principal historic landmark, built in late Gothic style after 1420. The Korčula Tourist Board says the monastery is not open for daily visits; tours can be arranged by appointment through the Franciscan site. Check the official Badija information and contact the monastery before planning an interior visit. A separate art gallery is also noted by the tourist board, but confirm current access locally. Deer roam freely on the island, alongside its woodland, coves and views across the Pelješac Channel. Treat Badija as a boat-access nature outing and confirm both the boat and any indoor visits before you set off.
