About the destination
Plan the road to the Skywalk
The main entrance to Biokovo Nature Park is on the D512 Makarska-Vrgorac road, about six kilometres east of Makarska. From the entrance, the mountain road climbs toward the Skywalk and Sveti Jure. The route to the Skywalk is 13 kilometres and takes about 30 minutes by car; the viewpoint sits at 1,228 metres at Ravna Vlaška, beside an information centre and a geological display. The road is narrow, two-way and one lane, with passing bays. The park describes driving it as a specific mountain-road experience and may limit entry in special circumstances. Check the official visitor instructions and online ticket requirements before setting out.
Choose a view or a trail
The Skywalk is a clear option if you want a roadside viewpoint with a geological introduction to the mountain. The same road continues toward Sveti Jure, Biokovo’s highest peak at 1,762 metres. If you prefer to explore on foot, the park also describes marked trails approaching from both the coastal and inland sides, with routes of different difficulty. Match the outing to your experience and the day’s conditions, and check current park notices before choosing a route. Read the park’s trail guidance for options beyond the road.
