About the destination
Choose how to explore Veliki Brijun
Most day visits begin in Fažana, where the boat crosses to Veliki Brijun in about 15 minutes. The guided excursion combines a one-hour tourist-train ride with walks and takes roughly three and a half hours in total. The route reaches the Safari Park and includes museum exhibitions; along the way, the guide introduces the island’s landscape and history, including the Roman villa remains at Verige Bay. Check the official excursion details and book ahead if you want a particular tour language.
Build a self-guided island day
If you prefer to set your own pace, the Brijuni Pocket Guide is a separate visit option without the guided train ride. Its ticket includes the return boat transfer and access to the Safari Park, exhibitions and Boat House. Allow time to walk between the harbour and northern island stops; the park notes that the Safari Park is a little over three kilometres from the port on foot. Island cafés and restaurants are listed by the park, but check current opening information before relying on a particular stop. Confirm the boat timetable and visitor notices for your date, since schedules and service hours vary by season.
