About the destination
Begin around St Peter’s
Start in Čara, where stone houses cluster above the fertile field and the parish church of St Peter marks the village centre. Walk the nearby lanes and look towards the cultivated land below. The village offers an introduction to central Korčula’s agricultural landscape, with vineyards and olive groves as much a part of the visit as the buildings.
Walk towards the field sanctuary
The church of Our Lady of Čara Field stands outside the village among the cultivated land on the way towards the sea. The tourist board describes a Pošip walking route through this landscape. Choose the section that fits your visit and ask about the current route locally. A walk to the sanctuary and an interior church visit are separate choices; enquire about entry if the latter interests you.
Arrange a Pošip tasting
Čara is closely associated with Pošip, the island’s native white grape. The official winery listing includes PZ Pošip at Čara 213, with Pošip wines and olive oil among its products. Contact the producer about a tasting or purchase, and organise transport before drinking. A meal nearby can follow the village walk; ask your host for options during your stay.
Add the sea at Zavalatica
Zavalatica is the separate coastal settlement below Čara, once a port for the local wine trade. Pair a village and vineyard visit with time by its waterfront or at nearby Žitna bay. For accommodation, choose whether you want evenings inland or beside the sea. Confirm the exact settlement of the property and the onward journey from your island arrival port.
