About the destination
Take in the channel landscape
Limski zaljev, also called the Lim Channel, is a flooded karst canyon on Istria’s west coast, north of Rovinj. The channel stretches for more than 10 kilometres, with steep wooded hills rising on both sides; it is part of the longer Lim valley reaching inland toward Pazin. This is a protected natural area, so plan a visit around the landscape rather than expecting a built-up resort. The Istria Tourist Board recommends organized walking or cycling tours. Check its Lim Channel overview for geographic context and choose a route suited to your time and ability.
Pair the scenery with local seafood
Submarine freshwater springs make the bay’s water less salty and rich in plankton, supporting fish and shellfish farming. The region’s tourism board points visitors toward local restaurants for seafood, including oysters and fish; use the official Lim guide to understand the area’s food and nature together. When checked on 16 October 2026, the same official page listed Romuald’s Cave as closed to visitors for safety measures until further notice. Check for an official reopening update before planning a cave visit. Confirm current boat-trip availability and restaurant opening times before travelling.
