About the destination
A trading village in the valley
Livade grew as a trading centre connected to the Parenzana railway. Today, a visit can bring together the story of the line and the local truffle tradition, with a hill-town stop nearby if you want a longer outing.
Inside the Parenzana Museum
The Parenzana Museum holds photographs, postcards, documents and railway objects from the line that operated from 1902 to 1935. It offers a useful introduction before exploring the wider route; check visiting arrangements with the museum.
The white-truffle season
Tuberfest celebrates Livade’s connection with white truffles. If you are coming for the event, use the current programme to choose your day. A meal featuring truffles is another way to make food part of the visit.
From Livade up to Oprtalj
Above the Mirna valley, Oprtalj offers a different perspective on the surrounding countryside. Continue there after your time in Livade if you would like to add a walk through a hilltop settlement.
