About the destination
Start with the village and Ručica
Metajna is a coastal village in the eastern part of Pag, where a stay by the sea can be combined with the island’s stark stone landscape. Begin in the settlement itself: the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1487, gives a historical focus to a short visit before you head for the beaches.
Ručica lies about one kilometre from the village and can be reached by car. Its gravel and sand shore has no natural shade, so bring sun protection and drinking water. Nearby Beriknica, also called Beritnica, is reached on foot or by boat; plan that access separately instead of expecting to drive to every beach. The official Metajna brochure helps you compare the village and nearby coastal stops.
Match the trail to your plans
The marked Life on Mars routes explore the surrounding rocky coast. Consult the tourist board’s trail information before choosing a walk, and leave time for the return as well as swimming. A full coastal circuit can involve a difficult via ferrata between Slana Bay and Cape Sušac, requiring appropriate climbing equipment. If you only want a beach outing, choose a route that avoids this section. Wear suitable footwear and check local weather and trail conditions before leaving the village.
