About the destination
Walk the pastoral village
Orlec lies in central Cres at about 240 metres above the sea, roughly two kilometres from the eastern coast. Stone houses, dry-stone boundaries and open pasture reflect its livestock-farming history. Make a short village walk part of an inland island outing, leaving homes, gates and farm access undisturbed.
Plan Mali Bok separately
Mali Bok is a coastal outing below the village, reached by a steep walking approach. Include the uphill return when deciding whether to go. There are no tourist facilities or natural shade at the cove; carry food, drinking water and sun protection. The village visit and beach descent are different parts of the day.
Understand the vulture landscape
Orlec’s name is linked locally with griffon vultures, which nest on cliffs in the wider area. Observe from a distance and avoid approaching nests or disturbing birds. For an interpreted conservation visit, the Beli rescue and visitor centre is a separate destination in northern Cres, with its own journey and visitor arrangements.
Use a wider island base
The Cres restaurant directory helps plan a meal in Cres town or Valun. Choose an overnight base through the island accommodation guide. If you want an organised cultural evening, the Cres calendar gives dates and locations elsewhere on the island.
