About the destination
Choose an island and a bay
The Pakleni Islands are a chain of wooded islands, islets and reefs off Hvar town. Their name comes from paklina, resin used in boatbuilding, as the official Hvar brochure explains. Sveti Klement is the largest island; Palmižana is one part of it. Choose a particular bay for your visit rather than treating the whole archipelago as a single beach.
Plan the crossing and return
The Hvar tourist board guide describes seasonal taxi boats to popular bays, as well as kayaking and sailing. Confirm the landing point and return arrangement with your operator before leaving Hvar. If arriving on your own boat, consult ACI marina Palmižana for berth arrangements; it lies on Sveti Klement’s northeastern shore, separate from the island’s southern dining and bathing bays. As checked on 16 October 2026, ACI’s page reports reduced capacity during reconstruction; confirm availability before arrival.
Make a day of Palmižana
For a meal on Sveti Klement, Meneghello’s restaurant overlooks the southern Palmižana bay and serves seafood and island wines. The same operator offers accommodation enquiries. Decide whether you want a beach stop with lunch or an overnight island stay; either needs a specific arrival plan. Hvar town provides a wider choice of evening dining and cultural events across the water.
Enjoy the protected coast
The islands’ protected landscape and surrounding Natura 2000 waters are covered by a conservation management plan. Keep to established paths and leave plants and marine life undisturbed. For anchoring, use current local maritime guidance so your chosen stop respects the seabed as well as the weather.
