About the destination
Walk the Jankovac valley
Jankovac Forest Park sits in a mountain valley on Papuk’s northern slopes, among springs, clear streams and old beech woods. The park’s 2.3-kilometre Grofova educational trail links the mountain lodge, Jankovac lakes and Skakavac waterfall, with interpretation along the route. The park describes steps, wooden footbridges and handrails on the trail, so allow time to take in the valley rather than treating it as a quick viewpoint stop. Skakavac is 35 metres high, and the mountain lodge serves traditional specialities. Check current visitor information before you set out.
Add a geology visit
Papuk’s attractions are spread across different locations. In Voćin, the Geo Info Centre introduces the geopark through multimedia and interactive exhibits on geology, nature and local heritage. In Velika, Kuća Panonskog mora presents fossils and the story of the ancient Pannonian Sea. These indoor stops offer a useful alternative or complement to a forest walk, especially if you want more context for the landscape. Check the official visitor notices for current facility hours before arranging the day; schedules can change for individual centres.
