About the destination
Begin in the valley
Plaški is a small municipal centre in Karlovac County, in the lower Ogulin-Plaški valley. Fields and pasture spread across the flatter ground, framed by wooded hills. A day here can move between the settlement, the river landscape and the villages around it, with the open valley as a contrast to the forested slopes.
See the Dretulja landscape
The Dretulja spring and valley reveal how water shapes this karst landscape. The river rises at the western edge of the valley and passes through wet meadows. For a walk, follow existing paths and firm ground; the riverside vegetation forms a sensitive wet habitat.
Work with clay in Janja Gora
In the separate village of Janja Gora, Atelje Janja Gora introduces ceramics and traditional pottery through workshops. Arrange a session for a hands-on part of the day, working with clay and shaping it by hand. It offers a different way to get to know the area alongside time outdoors.
