About the destination
Start with the Leska loop
Near Crni Lug, the Leska Educational Trail offers a forest walk with a clear starting point: it begins a few minutes west of the Risnjak National Park administration building. The circular route is 4.2 kilometres long and has little elevation change. Twenty-three interpretive boards introduce the area’s nature and cultural heritage; the park describes it as suitable for an independent visit or a walk with a guide. Check the park’s current visitor notices before setting out.
Choose your Kupa spring approach
The Kupa spring is a separate outing, reached by trail from either Razloge or Hrvatsko. From Razloge, the 1.82-kilometre route starts near the Gorski Kotar House of Knowledge and descends through Krašićevica canyon; the park rates it intermediate. From Hrvatsko, the 4.85-kilometre route follows the river by Kupari and is officially rated easy, though it is longer. Water can affect both approaches: the park says flooding may impede the canyon sections, especially at Razloge after heavy rain or spring snowmelt. Check conditions before choosing. A park notice from June 2026 reports the Vilje-Risnjak route closed for reconstruction and points summit walkers toward Cajtige; check the latest access information before planning that climb.
