About the destination
Discover eastern Mljet
Saplunara is a small settlement around a sandy bay at the eastern end of Mljet. Pine woodland and the low shoreline create a different setting from the lake landscape in the west. The park authority’s settlement guide places Saplunara outside Mljet National Park, so treat a park visit as a separate island outing.
Choose between three beach areas
The tourist board’s Saplunara guide introduces Velika Saplunara, Mala Saplunara and nearby Blace, also called Limuni. These are separate places to spend time by the water. Start with the beaches around the settlement, then decide whether to continue to Blace. Choose your spot for its entry into the sea and actual shade; the surrounding pine landscape does not mean every part of the sand is shaded.
Stay for a meal
For a named local option, Boutique PineTree Resort combines accommodation with Ante’s Place restaurant, whose operator welcomes diners staying elsewhere. Its menu blends traditional and contemporary cooking. A booked meal and a stay near your preferred beach let you enjoy Saplunara into the evening; contact your chosen host or restaurant for arrangements.
Plan the journey beyond the ferry
The Prapratno-Sobra vehicle ferry reaches Mljet from Pelješac. Sobra is the arrival port, with an onward road journey to Saplunara at the eastern end. Arrange that final leg with your accommodation plans, especially if arriving without a vehicle. Keep time for the return journey when combining Saplunara’s beaches with sights elsewhere on Mljet.
