About the destination
Start at the lighthouse and shore
Savudrija is a small coastal settlement at Croatia’s westernmost point. Its 36-metre lighthouse, put into use in 1818, stands close to the sea and remains the area’s defining landmark. Near it, the coast shifts between natural rocks and pebble beaches, with pine trees along parts of the shore. The Istria Tourist Board notes windsurfing and diving as activities suited to local sea and wind conditions. Read the lighthouse guide and beach information before choosing where to spend your time; the shore is not one continuous sandy beach.
Make room for a coastal outing
The broader Savudrija-Salvore area includes accommodation along the coast, bike trails passing Roman remains, and local food. The Istria Tourist Board also describes the old fishing practice of storing boats on wooden supports called grue; look for them around the harbour and shoreline. Its Savudrija overview covers the wider coastal area, including nearby places that are sometimes grouped under the Savudrija name. If you want a beach with nearby services, the board notes food, drink and sports amenities at the camping resort beside the principal beach. Check current local information for open services and choose accommodation based on the exact coast or settlement you plan to visit.
