About the destination
Arrive at Rogač, then choose a direction
The Split connections bring ferry and catamaran passengers to Rogač. Your island stay may be elsewhere: Maslinica lies to the west and Stomorska towards the east. Check the sailing that fits your date and whether it carries vehicles, then arrange the onward journey to your chosen settlement. If relying on buses, verify the route and return connection rather than assuming every sailing and every village are automatically linked.
Inland lanes or a coastal base
Start inland at Grohote, Šolta’s historic centre, where stone lanes give the visit a different rhythm from the waterfront. Pair it with one coastal settlement rather than hurrying through every village. Maslinica offers a western harbour and marina setting; Stomorska’s seafaring character provides another kind of coastal stay. Choose accommodation according to the place where you want to walk, swim and eat, with access from Rogač considered separately.
Meet the island through its produce
The local producer directory offers a practical route into Šolta’s olive oil, wine and honey traditions. Kaštelanac in Gornje Selo focuses on Dobričić wine and olive products, while Tvrdić Honey is in Grohote. Contact a producer to arrange a visit and learn what the tasting or tour includes. Combine it with time in that village, and arrange transport before wine tasting. These visits can give an inland day as much purpose as a beach day.
Choose an outing that fits the terrain
For an active day, the official cycling circuit links several settlements but includes substantial climbing. Pick a shorter section according to fitness and equipment instead of judging the ride only by the island’s size. Walking, paddling and a boat outing offer other perspectives, each with its own conditions. Check the route or operator arrangements, and leave time to enjoy a bay without making the whole stay a sequence of transfers.
