Vrsar

Vrsar combines a hilltop old town with coastal viewpoints and modern sculpture. Link the harbour and upper streets, then give Dušan Džamonja’s park its own visit.

About the destination

Walk from the coast to the old town

Give Vrsar’s old town a proper place in your day, alongside time at the waterfront. Plan a route that links the coast with the upper streets and leaves time to pause on the climb. Choose footwear for walking rather than only for the beach. If steps or slopes are difficult for your party, ask about a suitable approach before setting out, instead of relying on a straight line on a map.

Choose a viewpoint with purpose

The tourist board’s viewpoint guide helps you select a stop: St Anthony lies below the church near the Small Gate, while the viewpoint behind St Martin looks towards Valkanela and the Funtana archipelago. Look for the relationship between the harbour, offshore islands and the old Montraker quarry. You do not need to collect every viewpoint; choose a few and allow time to appreciate what each reveals about the town and coast.

Make room for Džamonja

The Dušan Džamonja Sculpture Park, on the northern approach near Stancija Valkanela, adds modern art to the visit. It formed part of the artist’s home and working estate. Treat it as a separate stop, confirm visitor access and plan the journey from your accommodation. Afterwards, leave time for a meal or a return to the waterfront. When choosing where to stay, compare the precise address with both the hilltop streets and your preferred stretch of coast.
