Žrnovo
Žrnovo combines four inland hamlets, stone lanes and handmade makaruni. Walk the village, plan a separate Kočje outing and distinguish inland accommodation from the nearby coast.

About the destination
Choose a hamlet to begin
Žrnovo is made up of Brdo, Prvo Selo, Kampuš and Postrana in eastern Korčula’s interior. Walk between stone houses, small churches and dry-stone boundaries in one of the hamlets. The parish church of St Martin gives a useful point of orientation. Allow time to walk between the hamlets if you want to see more of the settlement.
Give Kočje a separate walk
The protected landscape of Kočje adds dolomite rock formations and dense vegetation to an inland visit. The approach is from Brdo, so decide how you will reach that starting area before setting out. Take walking shoes and water and follow established paths through the landscape. You can combine a village circuit and a nature outing, with a meal or a rest between the two.
Taste a living village tradition
Žrnovski makaruni, pasta shaped by hand, is a good dish to ask for in the area. Look for it on a konoba menu during your visit. The Makarunada celebration brings preparation and tasting into a village event; consult the current programme if you want to attend. Postrana’s Moštra sword dance is another living tradition, best experienced through an announced community performance.
Choose inland or shore accommodation
Žrnovo and the coastal settlements around it are different settings. Žrnovska Banja, Medvinjak and Vrbovica offer shore locations; an inland address puts you among the hamlets and village paths. Choose according to the evenings and walks you want, and compare the precise property address with your arrival point. For a short visit from Korčula town, a village walk and a makaruni meal make a focused introduction.
