Guide
Two days in Dubrovnik
See the old city, then look more closely. Two days give you space for a museum and an unhurried return through the streets.

Before you go
Stay in Dubrovnik for both days. Check current admission and access arrangements for the walls and museums before buying tickets. This plan does not rely on boat departures, cable-car operation or combined-ticket inclusions. Swap an outdoor section for the museum if needed.
Day 1: Get to know the old city
First walk through the old city
Start with a walk through the historic centre and use a current city map to orient yourself. Choose a short route and look at the architecture rather than trying to enter every building. Pause for lunch before deciding on an afternoon visit.
Optional walls visit · Optional
If you want to walk the walls, check the operator’s current visitor information and choose a suitable slot. Do not assume your other ticket includes entry. Otherwise, keep the afternoon for another walk through the old city; the day does not depend on this visit.

Day 2: A closer look
Rector’s Palace museum
Make the Cultural History Museum at the Rector’s Palace your main visit. Check its current opening information and choose the part of the collection that interests you most. Plan one museum properly instead of racing through several.
St John’s Fort and the Maritime Museum · Optional
Continue towards St John’s Fort by the old port. The Maritime Museum inside follows the region’s seafaring history, making a useful companion to the Rector’s Palace. Visit both museums only if you want a museum-focused day; otherwise choose one and spend the remaining time around the port. Check each site’s entry arrangements.

Make the days feel different
Keep the first day for orientation and the second for a closer look. On day one, choose either the walls or a shorter return through the streets after lunch; on day two, give the museum you selected enough time, then let the port and nearby lanes shape the rest. You will remember more from two distinct days than from repeating the same checklist.
Leave one decision for later
Treat the optional visit as a choice, not a promise. Check current admission and opening details before setting a time, and decide after lunch whether the energy and conditions still suit it. If not, shorten the outdoor walk and keep the afternoon inside the old city. The plan still works without adding another ticket or rushing between stops.
Before leaving your accommodation, save the route back and agree on a meeting point if anyone may split off. That small arrangement makes it easier to explore at different paces and regroup without turning every pause into a negotiation.
