Pula by the sea: leave an afternoon for Lungomare
A coastal walk, a pause and enough energy for the way back.

Give the coast its own time
Make Lungomare the main outing rather than squeezing it between the city centre and a trip outside Pula. Check your starting point and return route. Match them to your bus stop or parking place before leaving.
Start at Valkane
Use the municipal bathing area Valkane as your map destination and meeting point. From there, follow the coastal pavement on Lungomare towards Gortanova uvala, with Valsaline as the possible next stop. Keep this route on the seafront pavement; the paths branching into the pinewoods offer a different walk. Plan an out-and-back route so that you finish at Valkane.
Walking is enough
Follow the coast, stop where you feel comfortable and turn back while the return still sounds pleasant. Agree on a pace that suits everyone. Step aside for photographs without heading onto an unsafe edge.
Pause at Gortanova uvala
Gortanova uvala is a pebbly bay set into the rockier shoreline, with pinewoods behind it. Make this your first named pause. Look across the curve of the beach, then back along the rocks you have passed: the change in the coast is the reason to stop here. For a photograph, try framing both the bay and its wooded backdrop rather than only the open sea.
Continue to Valsaline
For the longer version, follow Lungomare beyond Gortanova uvala to Valsaline, also known as Mornar. This bay is at the end of the promenade, and its shore combines pebbles, rock and concrete bathing areas. Use it as your turnaround point. On the way back through Gortanova uvala to Valkane, compare the bays from the opposite direction; the return is part of this coastal walk.
The short version: turn at Gortanova
Walk from Valkane only as far as Gortanova uvala, pause there and retrace your steps. You still get the contrast between the rocky coast and the pebbly bay without adding the stretch to Valsaline. Decide at the bay whether the group wants to continue; choose the return before your pause turns into an unplanned longer outing.
Treat swimming as a separate choice
A seaside path does not make every stretch suitable for entering the water. Choose an appropriate beach and check local conditions if you want to swim. In wind or rain, shorten the outing. Lunch and an unhurried return to town can fill the rest of the day.
