Agree on one collection and lunch, with a second venue left as an option. Allow around 2-3 hours in Makarska for this short plan; add your journey into and out of town separately. This is an editorial estimate including a break, not a measured route duration.

Choose the day first

A Saturday morning can start at the Malacological Museum, which closes at 13:00 under its summer timetable. The current notice says Gojak Gallery is closed at weekends. Under its summer timetable, the Malacological Museum is closed on Sundays, so this plan is not a reliable Sunday alternative to the beach. Include Tonoli only if the museum confirms a visit for your date. Without a confirmed open venue, choose another plan. From 15 October, arrange your Malacological Museum visit in advance.

Arrival and meeting point

If your bus arrives at Makarska Bus Station, its address is Ulica Ante Starčevića 30. Before setting off, check the date, the stop on your ticket and your return departure. Continue on foot from the station to your chosen venue; save Franjevački put 1 for the first option. Already in the centre? Meet directly at that address. The walks between addresses are outdoors.

1. Malacological Museum: choose your shell

The museum in the Franciscan Monastery at Franjevački put 1 displays gastropods and bivalves from the Adriatic and other seas. Allow roughly 45-60 minutes and choose a few specimens instead of rushing past every case. Each person can find an unusual shape or colour, then compare choices. The duration is a planning suggestion.

Checked 26 September 2026: published summer hours are Monday-Friday 9:00-15:00 and Saturday 9:00-13:00; closed Sundays. From 15 October to 1 May, visits are by arrangement. Standard adult admission is €5. Use the museum’s official visitor information for arrangements and current conditions; groups and guided visits should be arranged in advance.

2. A coffee or lunch break

After the collection, choose an open café or lunch spot in the centre. Over the table, compare one object or fact that surprised you. You can finish here: a second museum is optional.

Gojak Gallery: confirm opening before going

If you would prefer art, consider Antun Gojak Gallery at Don Mihovila Pavlinovića 1 only after confirming that it is open. The museum notice dated 10 September 2026 lists Monday-Friday opening times, while the official location page currently marks the gallery as closed. Check opening times, the current exhibition and admission with the museum before replacing the Malacological Museum with Gojak. Allow 30-45 minutes for a confirmed visit as a planning estimate.

Want to visit both venues? Add the second only after confirming that the opening times fit. Leave time for walking and a break; if Gojak’s availability is unconfirmed, keep the plan to one collection and lunch.

Tonoli: choose it for the current exhibition

The Town Museum in Tonoli Palace is at Obala kralja Tomislava 17, a different address from Gojak. The announcement for “Note koje su spajale naraštaje” gives visiting hours during October and November 2026 as Monday-Friday 9:00-12:00 and 18:00-20:00. Those times do not automatically apply to other programmes or dates. Confirm the exhibition, entrance and admission charge before making Tonoli your main stop; museum office hours are not visitor hours.

Getting back and final details

Finish in the centre, then return to the stop on your ticket; for a departure from the main bus station, that is Ulica Ante Starčevića 30. Leave a buffer for walking in the rain and reaching the platform. Museum entry, food and transport are separate costs. Check departures for your date before adding a second visit.

Step-free access has not been verified for the whole plan; if you need it, confirm the entrance to your chosen venue before travelling. Postpone walks between venues in severe weather. Leave Osejava and Sveti Petar for a day suited to walking. Practical sources rechecked 26 September 2026.
