Samobor for a breather: Anindol woods and St Anne’s Chapel
A woodland outing without committing to a full hiking day: make St Anne’s Chapel the goal, then return to town and the Gradna stream.

Agree on the endpoint first
Build this outing around Anindol and St Anne’s Chapel. From King Tomislav Square, head towards Anindol using the town map and signs on the ground. The useful agreement is that the chapel is your destination, not a waypoint before every hill beyond it. For friends who walk at different speeds, that settles how much walking everyone has actually signed up for. Leave lunch until afterwards so a table booking does not set the pace uphill.
Give the woodland the main role
Once in Anindol, slow down enough for the walk to change the mood of the day. There is no need to record split times or add distance because an app suggests it. At junctions, keep to your chosen approach towards the chapel and stay together. This is a short outing from town; its duration depends on your route and pace. If someone wants to turn back, retracing the same approach is simpler than inventing an unfamiliar circuit.
Notice the chapel’s local connections
St Anne’s Chapel stands in the woodland on Tepec. Samobor’s tourist board connects it with the song Kod kapele svete Ane and the local Aninovo pilgrimage tradition. That gives the place a human story without requiring a lecture full of dates. Pause for the building and its setting. Treat access to the interior as a possibility if it is open, rather than a promised part of the outing. The setting itself gives your walk a clear destination.
Finish without adding another summit
Return towards the centre, then extend the outing beside the Gradna towards the Livadić Manor area if everyone feels like it. Moving from woodland into town gardens gives the day a natural ending. Keep the castle ruins for a separate visit rather than adding them when someone is already tired. If the weather does not suit walking, replace the woodland section with a museum visit after checking its programme. The outing can still work when the original plan no longer does.
