Šibenik from another angle: a morning at Banj
An easy seaside outing for a view back at the city, with swimming left optional.

Walk out along the waterfront
Use the Krka Pier as a starting point and follow the waterfront towards Dolac. Pass Mandroč, the small harbour with local boats, and continue beside the sea towards Banj. Keep to the pedestrian space along the waterfront road. Save the climb through the old town for another outing: the shoreline is the thread to follow on this walk.
Travel light
Banj is a public pebble beach in Crnica with views towards the historic centre. Water, something to sit on and a camera or phone are enough for this outing. Swimwear is optional. Choose a time that fits your day and check the weather and conditions at the sea before setting out.
The final approach uses the Banj-Pekovac promenade, which connects the city waterfront with the beach. Its ramps follow the coastal terrain beside the cliff. Keep your walking shoes on until you have chosen a place on the pebbles, and allow time for the same route back. A pause on the promenade can be the whole visit if you prefer to stay off the beach.
Let the photograph happen
First find a view of the city that you like. Take a wide frame, then wait for something to give it movement: a boat, a wave or your companion. You do not need to balance on an edge or enter the water for a photograph. If the space is busy, continue walking and try again later.
Give the city view two recognisable anchors: St. James’s Cathedral and St. Michael’s Fortress. Find the cathedral’s dome, then the fortress higher above the roofs. Try one photograph with the whole skyline and another concentrating on those two forms. A little water or a strip of pebbles in the foreground can show where you are standing; the buildings alone tell a different story.
A shorter morning at Mandroč
If you want less walking, make Mandroč in Dolac your turning point. Watch the small boats and return along the waterfront without continuing to Banj. For the full outing, come back from the beach by the same promenade and decide on your coffee stop once you reach Dolac. This gives you one clear route home and lets you shorten the pause if the day grows hotter or the weather changes.
Decide the return together
Keep swimming separate from taking photographs and have someone watch your belongings. A break by the water is equally worthwhile if you do not swim. Before returning towards the centre, choose one breakfast or coffee stop together. That keeps a simple outing from turning into an endless search for the next place.
