Archaeological Museum Zadar

The prehistoric display spans the Old Stone Age to the end of the Iron Age, with particularly rich material from the Neolithic and Iron Age. The Roman display explores ancient Zadar, known as Iader, and southern Liburnia through city planning, trade, everyday life, religion and burial. A highlight is the group of imperial statues discovered on the forum in nearby Nin.

The medieval display brings together finds from early Croatian cemeteries and carved stone church furnishings, covering the early seventh to the early twelfth century. Models and photographs of pre-Romanesque and early Romanesque churches help connect the objects with the region’s architecture. Combine the museum with a walk around the Forum to compare archaeological finds with the surviving cityscape.
