Ekomuzej Kuća o batani / Casa della batana
The House of Batana at Obala P. Budicina 2 is the exhibition centre of Rovinj’s Batana Eco-museum. Its permanent display explores the traditional wooden fishing boat through objects, photographs, film and interactive exhibits. It also documents boatbuilding and the voices and songs of the town’s fishing community.
A closer look
The museum extends beyond this house: its community programme includes the Little Shipyard, waterfront routes and seasonal experiences. UNESCO selected the community safeguarding project for its Register of Good Safeguarding Practices in 2016. This is a recognition of the living-heritage initiative, not a World Heritage designation for the building.
