National park or nature park
Kornati
Kornati is an archipelago of pale karst, narrow passages and dry-stone landscapes, explored mainly by boat. Match your trip to the park boundary, sea conditions and the practicalities of an island stay.

About the destination
Choose the boat experience
The Kornati archipelago and Kornati National Park have different boundaries; the park contains 89 islands, islets and reefs. Choose between an organised excursion and a private or rented boat. The park’s excursion information lists contracted operators, whose routes and activities vary. Before booking, ask which islands and protected areas the trip actually enters, how much time is ashore, and whether park admission and lunch are included. Compare the itinerary rather than relying on the name “Kornati”.
Read the worked landscape
Long dry-stone walls divide properties and pastures across the larger islands. Stone cleared for cultivation was also used to protect crops from grazing animals, wind and sea salt. These lines reveal generations of work behind the apparently bare scenery. Look for them from the boat and on permitted land walks, leaving stones and walls undisturbed.
Plan within park rules
A valid ticket is required for each day spent in the park. Consult its visitor rules before plotting your course: strict protection zones exclude visitors, walking is restricted to marked paths, and anchoring or overnighting is limited to designated bays. A skipper should check weather and the suitability of each planned stop. Bring drinking water, sun protection and shoes for rocky ground rather than assuming every landing offers facilities.
Arrange an island stay carefully
The park’s accommodation guide points to private hosts and agencies. Ask specifically about the return transfer, drinking water, electricity, meals and supplies before booking. Boat rental or deliveries may be arranged with a host; confirm the actual offer. For a day trip, clarify whether lunch is on board or at an island restaurant, and keep the return journey part of the plan.
