Destination
Omiš
Omiš brings the Cetina to the sea beneath a wall of rock. Pair the town with one canyon activity and a taste of Poljica’s soparnik.

About the destination
Start where the river meets the town
Begin with the lanes around St Michael’s church, then follow the old town towards the Cetina. This puts the harbour, river mouth and rock faces into one walk without committing you to an organised activity. For an elevated view, consider Mirabela above the centre; its stepped approach is a different outing from the longer Fortica climb. Leave time to stop in the small squares instead of treating the town only as a departure point.
Choose one river experience
A sightseeing boat trip is one way to enter the canyon without choosing a white-water activity. Rafting, kayaking and ziplining have different meeting points, equipment and participation rules: select one that suits your group, then confirm the details with the operator. For a food stop, look for Poljica’s soparnik and ask about availability rather than assuming every restaurant serves it.
Before you set out
Bring water and footwear suitable for steps if you plan a fortress visit. Allow separate time for transfers to a canyon activity, and keep the plan flexible in wind or heat. Check current access and booking conditions through the Omiš visitor guide, canyon information and local food guide.
Before you set out
Plan your visit
Choose the pace, check the journey and keep a second option for the day.
Time to allow
Keep half a day for the old town and Cetina river mouth; allow a full day if you add Mirabela or a booked canyon activity. These are editorial estimates. Rafting, ziplining and a sightseeing boat are different outings; choose one and confirm its meeting point.
Without a car
Promet Split lists line 60 towards Omiš. Check the actual boarding stop, timetable and return before travelling. Explore the centre on foot, but arrange the transfer to any canyon activity separately; its starting point may be outside town.
Arriving by car
Choose signed parking for a town visit and check local payment conditions. If joining an activity, ask the operator where to meet and park instead of using the historic centre as a default. Leave a traffic buffer before a fixed departure.
Rain, heat and a change of plan
Mirabela has a stepped approach; Fortica is a separate, longer climb. Avoid treating either as a rainy-day fallback. In heat or unsuitable weather, keep the plan at town level and check a currently open indoor stop. Bring appropriate footwear for any fortress visit.
