About the destination
Walk Rab town and Komrčar
The town of Rab stands on a narrow peninsula marked by four bell towers: the Assumption, St John, St Andrew and St Justine. Follow the lanes and church surroundings, then continue into Komrčar, the forest park beside the old town walls. This makes a rewarding first day on foot, with time to return to the waterfront for dinner. A town stay also suits cultural events listed in the current visitor programme.
Choose a sandy Lopar day
At the island’s northern end, Rajska plaža offers a broad sandy setting with shallow water. Hotels, camping and private accommodation around the bay make Lopar a practical base when repeated beach days are the priority. Cafés, restaurants and terraces provide choices for a meal or an evening out near the sand. Decide which part of the shore fits your group, and supervise children closely on the beach and in the water.
Explore the Kalifront woodland
For a forest outing, look to Dundo on the Kalifront peninsula in southwestern Rab. Its holm oaks show another side of the island, far from the sandy landscape of Lopar. Choose a marked walking or cycling route by distance and surface, carrying water for the outing. Keep the forest visit separate from your town circuit so that you have time for both the paths and the journey back.
Taste a Rab speciality
Look for Rabska torta, the local cake associated with almonds and maraschino. The House of Rab Cake offers a way to follow this sweet tradition, while fish, olive oil and honey add other island flavours. Ask a restaurant about local dishes and the day’s catch when choosing dinner. For the evening, pick between the old town’s cafés and cultural programme or Lopar’s beach-side terraces, according to where you are staying.
Match the ferry and your base
The official island visitor portal links information for the Stinica-Mišnjak and Valbiska-Lopar ferry approaches. Their arrival points serve different parts of Rab, so compare the crossing with your accommodation and any onward transfer. Rab town suits heritage and evening walks; Lopar suits sandy bathing; the Kampor and Kalifront side is useful for woodland outings. With several nights, devote separate days to town, Lopar and forest rather than changing accommodation for every excursion. Check the return sailing when planning the final island day. Compare apartments, rooms and holiday homes through the tourist board’s Rab Info agency listing.
