Begin at the harbour and tower

Veli Lošinj gathers tall houses around a narrow bay, with former captains’ homes and gardens in the lanes behind. Despite its name, it is smaller than nearby Mali Lošinj today. Visit the fifteenth-century tower, built for defence and now a museum and gallery, to learn about local history and maritime life. Give the museum its own stop within your harbour walk.

Continue to Rovenska

The coastal walk leads towards Rovenska’s fishing harbour, another part of Veli Lošinj with its own waterfront and beach. Choose whether to stop for a meal, continue towards a bathing place or return along the coast. A walk between the two harbours is a useful introduction before attempting longer island routes.

Learn about the sea

Blue World’s Marine Education Centre presents marine life and the institute’s conservation work in the village centre. Ask directly about workshops or a group visit. If choosing a dolphin-watching excursion, look for an operator explaining responsible observation and what the trip involves. Wild dolphins are not a guaranteed sight; the educational visit offers a land-based introduction to their environment.
