Castle and park first

Start at Pejačević Castle in the centre of Virovitica. Walk through the surrounding park and look for its themed wooden bridges, which offer different views and stories rather than simply crossings. This is a useful first circuit before going indoors. Keep the park walk and castle admission separate in your planning, so that a change to museum access does not determine your entire day in town.

Two ways into local history

The tourist board’s cultural guide identifies the Town Museum inside the castle and the museum of the Franciscan monastery. The latter adds liturgical objects and the memory of a monastery pharmacy to the visit. Choose the collection that best matches your interests, or leave enough time to enjoy both without rushing. Confirm access directly before relying on either indoor stop, and allow a break for a meal between cultural visits.

An outing beyond the centre

For a different landscape, plan a separate trip to the Virovitica fish ponds south of town and the Virovitička Bilogora educational trail. Arrange how you will get there and return; it is a distinct outing from the castle park. Bring water and footwear suited to outdoor paths, and check local conditions before setting off. Fishing requires its own permissions, so ask the managing association before bringing tackle. An overnight stay gives you space to divide the town and countryside across two visits.
