A Split morning on Marjan before the day fills up
Choose one viewpoint, walk at your own pace and leave enough time for breakfast afterwards.

Choose a turning point
For a morning on Marjan, pick one viewpoint rather than automatically choosing the longest possible route. Find information and a map through the visitor centre at Trumbićeva obala 18. Decide where you will turn back before you start climbing, and keep a generous allowance for the return.
From St. Francis to Prva vidilica
Start beside the church and monastery of St. Francis (Sv. Frane) at the western end of the Riva. Follow Šperun uphill to the wide stairs on Senjska, continue up Senjska and take the left turn towards Prva vidilica, the First Viewpoint. Set that name as your destination on the map. This is the turning point for this morning walk; leave the paths continuing uphill for another outing.
Let the view make you stop
Walk at a pace that allows conversation. Bring water and proper walking shoes; an early start does not remove the climb or the sun. Pause at your chosen spot and compare the city’s outline with your map. You do not need every viewpoint for this different perspective on Split to stay with you.
The approach is part of the visit: in Veli Varoš, notice the stone houses and the way the streets fit the slope. At Prva vidilica, look back over the neighbourhood’s roofs before taking in the wider city. Try to trace the stretch you have just walked, then put the map away for a while. Keep doorways and the walking line clear when stopping in the lanes.
Return by the route you know
Retrace your ascent through Senjska and Šperun to Sv. Frane and the Riva. Using the same way back makes it easier to judge the remaining walk and recognise the junctions. For a lighter morning, turn back at the foot of the wide Senjska stairs and finish with a waterfront stroll. That shorter option gives you the lower streets of Varoš without committing to the climb to the viewpoint. Save a map before leaving your accommodation, especially if you start before the visitor centre opens.
Leave room at the end
Save breakfast or coffee for afterwards without a reservation that sends you hurrying downhill. If you have a boat later, allow for collecting luggage and arriving before boarding closes. Check park notices and the weather before setting out, and shorten the route when conditions call for it.
