St Barbara’s Church, Šibenik
St Barbara’s Church is a Gothic landmark in Šibenik’s old town, close to the Cathedral of St James. Construction began around 1400. Above the entrance, look for the Gothic niche with a sculpture of St Nicholas; the north wall also carries a distinctive carved relief commissioned by a Šibenik physician in 1419.

A closer look
The church formerly housed a museum of sacred art. According to the Šibenik tourism board, most of that collection has moved to the Civitas Sacra interpretation centre in Galbiani Palace. Enjoy the church’s architecture from the old-town streets, and check current access locally before planning an interior visit. This listing does not promise a museum exhibition or set opening hours.
