Šibenik City Museum
Šibenik City Museum occupies the Rector’s Palace at Gradska vrata 3, beside St James’s Cathedral. The palace developed from the 13th century and once housed the city’s Venetian governor. Its surviving wings and towers form part of the historic waterfront setting.

A closer look
The permanent exhibition in the atrium and south wing traces Šibenik and its surroundings from the sixth millennium BC to the end of the 18th century. Look for distinctive Danilo-culture pottery and finds from the region’s ancient and medieval sites. The city’s later story brings together cathedral heritage, art and the humanist circle associated with Antun and Faust Vrančić.
Temporary exhibitions add changing perspectives on local history and culture. Check the museum’s official website for the current programme, admission and seasonal hours. The published October-mid-June schedule is weekdays only, with the last admission 30 minutes before closing.
