Museum of Fine Arts Osijek
The Museum of Fine Arts Osijek occupies a historic house at Europska avenija 9, on the boulevard connecting the city centre with Tvrđa. Architect Josip Vancaš designed the neo-Renaissance building in 1895 for lawyer Dragutin Neuman. The museum grew from the art collection of the Museum of Slavonia, became an independent institution in 1954 and opened at this address in 1964.

A closer look
Its collections range from Baroque painting to contemporary art. Paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture and medals span the 18th to the 21st centuries. Works from former Slavonian aristocratic collections sit alongside Croatian landscape and portrait painting, Osijek artists and modern and contemporary work. The exhibition programme also includes the Slavonian Biennale, the Ivo Kerdić memorial for medal art and small sculpture, and graphic-arts events.
Exhibitions and venues change. The museum lists a temporary exhibition space at Kapucinska 36 as well as its Europska avenija address; check its official website for the current exhibition location, opening times and admission before visiting.
