About the destination
Start with the centre
Use the City Tower as your meeting point and take Korzo at your own pace. For a short visit, pick one exhibition and leave time for coffee.
Take a turn towards photography
Galerija Principij is at Pod voltun 4, near the Old Gate and St Vitus Cathedral. It specialises in photography. Check its exhibition programme before you go; choosing a show gives a walk through the centre a clear destination.
Give the market its own stop
The city market on Vatroslava Lisinskog Street brings together market pavilions and a fish market. Look at the buildings as well as the stalls: their decoration includes fruit, vegetables and sea creatures. Check trading hours when planning a visit to shop.
Keep an indoor option
Filodrammatica at Korzo 28/1 presents contemporary art, including installations and new media. Check the current programme and visiting times before making this your rainy-day stop. The gallery opens during exhibitions and is closed on Sundays and public holidays. If the exhibition and visiting times fit your day, organise the rest of your walk around that visit, with a break nearby afterwards.
Plan your visit
Time to allow. Our suggestion: half a day for Korzo, the Old Town and a stop at the market; a full day if you add Trsat and a relaxed lunch. This is a planning estimate, not a timed route.
Without a car. Explore the centre on foot. For Trsat, choose the Petar Kružić steps if you want an uphill walk, or check Autotrolej bus 2. Check the timetable and service notices before leaving.
Arriving by car. Use Rijeka plus for parking locations, payment information and current conditions. Availability can change.

Choose the pace, check the journey and keep a second option for the day.
Time to allow
Allow half a day for Korzo, the old streets and the market, with a meal; keep a full day if you add Trsat. These are editorial estimates. Choose one gallery or museum as the indoor stop rather than fitting every exhibition into the walk.
Without a car
The centre works as a walking visit. For Trsat, choose the uphill Petar Kružić steps or check Autotrolej line 2 and current service notices. Verify your intercity arrival and return separately; a city bus timetable does not confirm a rail connection.
Arriving by car
Use Rijeka plus for parking locations and payment conditions, then continue through the centre on foot. Choose the car park for the part of the day you intend to walk. If adding Trsat, decide beforehand whether you will use the bus or change parking location.
Rain, heat and a change of plan
For rain, check the Sugar Palace’s current visiting arrangements or a gallery programme. In hot weather, keep the uphill section for a cooler hour and take a break first. Market shopping depends on trading hours; an evening look at the buildings is a different visit.
