Zadar with an apartment kitchen: dinner starts at the market
Swap one restaurant meal for cooking together with whatever looks good that day.

Check the kitchen before shopping
Before heading to Zadar’s market, check your accommodation for a knife, board, pan, dishes and fridge. Agree on a simple dinner and divide the jobs. Holiday cooking stops being fun when one person does all the shopping, preparation and washing up while everyone else only appears at the table.
Let the stalls guide the meal
At the peninsula’s Pijaca market, see what is available that day. Ask about origin and preparation, compare prices and buy amounts you will actually eat. Vegetables, bread and a few additions may be enough. Buy fish or other perishable food last and take it straight back to suitable refrigeration.
Give the evening a finish
Set the table and leave time for a walk after eating. If the kitchen is unsuitable, change the plan: buy only what you can store safely or eat promptly and choose a restaurant for the main meal. Check the market’s current opening information before visiting, especially around public holidays.
